OK, maybe we’re a little biased, but we think Toronto is a pretty awesome city to visit no matter what month of the year it is. But around the festive period? Then it takes in to a different level altogether. There’s just so much to do, so much fun to be had, so much Christmas cheer to be absorbed! If you’re planning a trip to the city in the run up to Christmas and through to the new year, then read on below, where we outline some of the fun goings-on you have to look forward to.

Christmas market

For all things festive, make sure you’re checking out the Toronto Christmas Market, which will be taking place every day up until December 23 at the Distillery District. You’ll be able to see the big Christmas tree, hear carol singers, shop, and eat, drink, and be merry. The perfect way to get into the yuletide spirit.

Talk-along movies

Home Alone is the greatest Christmas movie ever made. And get this: Hot Docs have found a way to make it even more awesome. On December 23, they’ll be showing the movie with karaoke-style subtitles, and you’re encouraged to talk along! Better get practising your best “Keep the change, ya filthy animal!” impression. Takes place at Ted Rogers Cinema.

Ringing in the new year

In town for New Year’s Eve and want to join the whole city to party? Then get down to Nathan Phillips Square. There will be music, skating, fireworks, and a unique, brilliant atmosphere guaranteed.

If you’re visiting the city during the holidays, then only the best hotel in Toronto will do. At the Super 5 Inn Toronto, you’ll find affordable, comfortable accommodations, and amenities that include free high-speed wifi, free parking, a location that’s easily accessible from downtown.
